How to Make Disappearing Cookies

(Editing to add captions since the ones in the pictures are, em, not working out so well. I’ll have to work on that part!)

("I think I’m going to bake some cookies! See the aloe vera growing out of the back of my head??")

("Weapons of mass destruction!")

("Hmmm, more butter anyone?")

("Let’s stir things up a bit!")

("EWWW!")

(This is my "Yuck! Too much butter!" face.)

("Leaves everywhere")

("Ready to cook!")

(homemade icing. it’s the best!)

(hot freshly iced cookies!)

("Cookies gooooood!")

("The cookies at their final destination - the company kitchen!")

Result of leaving the cookies in the wild?

Half gone in 30 minutes. The other half gone an hour after that.

Woo!!!

Something momentous happened Friday night. I’ll give you a hint:

Woohoo! We’ve got a joined sweater. Now I’ve just got to knit the yoke and I will be wearing a gorgeous new sweater by the time cooler weather sets in.

I also took a little bit whilst watching an episode form Season 1 of Project Drunkway Runway to crochet this:

I just need to weave in the ends and sew a zipper in there and I’ve got a make-up bag for my cousin Gwen for Christmas.

So, I was taught to knit by my Grandma Laura and today, my Mom and I were over at my grandparent’s house to pick up a few books and we came across a sweater that my mom says my Grandmother knit for my Grandfather. Now, I’ll confirm this with the Aunt and Uncles but I took this big greenish cardigam home with me and dumped it in the bathtub to wash with Eucalan.

Oh. My. God.

This was taken during the second bath. Not the first. The SECOND bath.

Um…. eep!

I think I have my work cut out for me…

ETA: We are now 6 baths into the big dirty cardigan project. The water is running clearer but not clear enough to make me happy. We’re taking a break to dry out overnight and see if maybe one more bath tomorrow can’t cure what ails it. Wish us luck!

Two things…

First, I thought this was really awesome.

Second, picked up from Cara who picked it up from Bonne Marie!

48 Things You Could Care Less About

1. FIRST NAME? Amy

2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? I was named after my great grandmother, Amy. I think my grandma was pretty pleased that my parents did that.

3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY? Today on the way home - particularly rough day at work including being relieved of a "major" project (both a blessing and a curse.) Note to self: Don’t cry during Houston traffic. Not a wise move.

4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING? Actually, yes, I do. It varies, but utilizing an extra fine point pen and I write tiny and perfectly and uber coolly if I do say so myself. Plus I’m a lefty. Lefties are way cooler anyway.

5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCHMEAT? turkey-turkey-turkey

6. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU? yep. I’m pretty fond of me. I think I’m a good person and kinda fun to have around. Plus, if you give me a beer, I can throw out some pretty zingy one-liners. Heck! Forget the beer. I’ll throw the one liners around anyway! They’re fun!

7. DO YOU HAVE A JOURNAL? ahem, you’re reading it!

8. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS? Uhm, yes? I think?

9. WOULD YOU BUNGEE JUMP? No.

10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL? Cheerios. :giggle: They’re good with chocolate milk.

11. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SHOES WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF? Have you ever tried to untie a flip flop? It’s a miserable ordeal. Wouldn’t suggest it.

12. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG? Sure. But put me face to face with a cockroach and I’ll prove that wrong.

13. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR? Persnickety side: Natural Vanilla Bean. This is not just any vanilla. This is Blue Bell brown rim vanilla with bean flecks in it.

14. SHOE SIZE? Humongoid Size 10.

5. RED OR PINK? "helllooooooo sleeeeeve!"

16. WHAT IS THE LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOURSELF? my lack of will power when it comes to food.

There. I said it. Whew.

17. WHO DO YOU MISS THE MOST? I miss my Grandma Laura. I like to think she’d think I turned out pretty well so far.

18. DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO SEND THIS BACK TO YOU? if anyone actually reads this far, I’m impressed.

19. WHAT COLOR PANTS, SHIRT AND SHOES ARE YOU WEARING? I’m wearing a light blue skirt and charcoal colored shirt. I changed after work. I think my slacks and shirt are still by the front door. I oughta move my laundry basket….

20. LAST THING YOU ATE? Some kinda of Vietnamese beef and tomato rice thing. Whatever my Uncle Jack put on the plate pretty much. My Aunt and Uncle bribed me with the news of a new puppy to give belly rubs to and of course, dinner. Our usual Wed night routine.

21. WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW? the AC running. Blasted Houston can’t make up its mind. I was told we were having a cold-front. It’s more like a marginally-more-tolerable-front, if you ignore the hawk sized mosquito hovering by your left ear.

22. IF YOU WERE A CRAYON, WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU BE? Blue-green

23. FAVORITE SMELL? Um, this strawberry scented candle is pretty decent. Stuff baking. Mom, we need to make those figgy, datey, raisiny Italian cookies that I can’t spell the name to.

31. DO YOU WEAR CONTACTS? both. my eyes are a bit dry right now. probably oughta take the contacts off my eyeballs.

Thanks Mother Nature…

Around 2:45, the CFO of the company emailed everyone to let them know that with the weather the way it was, anyone who felt the need to leave would be excused.

I hemmed and hawed. I drove through some pretty high water this morning to get to work and it had done nothing out our way except dump more rain. All. Day. Long.

So I decided to go home before it got worse and my tiny little low car got stranded on I-45 like those two gals who died earlier today after trying to drive through some water and underestimating the depth of it.

Side note to other women: You know how they always tell you not to drive through standing water if you can’t see straight through it? Well, they learned that lesson the hard way. Let’s be smart and learn from others’ mistakes now shall we??

So, I crawled home at a sprightly 20 mph. I went through downtown to get to Allen Parkway and pulled off into Eleanor Tinsley Park. Now, keep in mind, that on a normal day, you should not be able to see the water through the trees because it’s way down in the bottom of the bayou. Or something like that. Suffice, you should normally see lots and lots and lots of green green grass and these trees are normally MUCH taller - like twice as tall as what you see in the photos in some cases.

What you don't see is my windshield wipers furiously wiping away lots of rain...

Out the passenger side window

Lots and lots of rain!

Oy...

We give up Mother Nature! But thanks for the knitting time.
