In which I learn to live like an adult…

I’m apparently becoming more and more of an adult all the time. (Quit laughing.)

I went home to Galveston for the weekend/Mardi Gras/little brother’s birthday. Sunday before I left to come back to Houston, my Mom and I took a trip to Home Depot and Target. Whilst there, we bought a few things and upon arriving home, I transformed my door from boring, "Do-we-need-to-break-down-the-door-to-see-if-she-exists??" to "The-plant-is-still-alive-so-I-guess-no-one-is-dead-here"

My new plant and doormat.

This only took me one year to the day to accomplish after moving in. But even though I know that the living room looks like a bomb exploded in it, I still feel all adult and relaxed for 5 seconds when I walk up after a long day at work. Unfortunately I have to open the door eventually. The neighbors think I’m weird enough already, no need to help them along with that line of thinking.

On another note, Kelly has been busting my ass on and off for the last like month and a half to get around to posting photos of my sweater amounts of yarn. See, when I did my whole "Check out the ridiculous amount of yarn living in my apt" post, I kinda never got around to disclosing the full stash. In particular, my sweater amounts were missing. Well, thanks to a fortuitous (ooh, $10 word!) find this weekend, I scored two sets of plastic storage drawers in perfetto condizione. One big set and one medium set. This saved me from having to go out and buy them myself, because I was doing a glorious job of procrastinating about this. After being wiped down, the large drawers were ready for yarn!

clicky-clicky!

clicky-clicky!

clickety-click!

Now, I am in full disclosure regarding the amount of yarn hiding in my apt.

I’m going to go admire my doormat now.

  2. MMmmmm…..Silky Wool……….

BTW, the “three-drawer” sets at Target? The tops pop off and you can stack them…..I currently have three stacked…..mostly with sock yarn……

  3. Living like an adult, huh? Maybe you can give me some pointers - I’ve never bought a doormat in my life. Everywhere I’ve lived came with a (usually extremely questionable) one…

You go with your full yarny disclosure. That Rowanspun is freaking GORGEOUS - you’re so lucky that you snatched it up from the swap! I’m going to get a manly sweater out of 7 of the stuff, so you’ll have plenty to make something awesome.

  4. Your are so funny! $10 words! I am going to will my thesaurus to you. Grandma gave it to me so that I would learn $10 words… fat lot of good that did her or me. haha
Your hair cut is great and the front door looks mighty nice too… So, more plants for you… :-)

  5. Thanks for leaving the comment on my blog! I say go for the Glee tee in that beautiful red. Silky Wool is great yarn, and it really softens up with wear. Can’t wait to see!
